Prayer Guide

Day 07 - Electric Power

This sector remains problematic despite its privatization by government and colossal amount spent. This has resulted in investment losses and affected our economy negatively.

• Pray God to break into this sector and judge all the enemies of progress frustrating provision of steady electric power supply through embezzlement, stealing of equipment, unimplemented and inflated contracts, (Zech 5:1-4).

• Ask the Lord to raise godly people to run this sector and turn it around.

• Pray God that through the new owners and other participants in the power sector, Nigeria begins to experience uninterrupted electric supply.

• Pray that the efforts of the government in this regard are not frustrated by the former PHCN staff and politicians who may have gained so much from the old system.

• Pray God to give the government courage and wisdom to deal with the menace of importers and sellers of generators who may fight back following the sale of PHCN.

Day 06 - The President, His Cabinet, and Governors

  • • Ask God to protect, guide and uphold our President, Governors and their entire families. Pray God to foil all evil plans against His purpose for their lives. Pray God to enable them fulfill their divine purposes. Also ask God to bless them with good health, (Zech 4:9).

    • Pray that the seven Spirits of the Lord manifest in their lives, i.e. the Spirit of God, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of Knowledge and the fear of the Lord, (Isa. 11:2).

    • Pray for all Governors, Ministers and Ministers of state, Directors General, Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries that they do their work with divine ability, fear of God and in truth. Also pray that they hate covetousness, (Exo. 18:21).

    • Pray that the Lord guides the President to choose men and women who share the vision for national transformation and grant him courage to get rid of people who are covetous and have no professional ability.

    • Ask the Lord to brood over Aso Rock and shield the presidency from every evil influence of enchantments, spells, divinations, sorcery, curses and other wicked imaginations of men, (Num. 23:23).

    • Pray God to make our President, his cabinet, Governors and Political leaders willing instruments in His hands to transform Nigeria.

    • Pray that all physical and spiritual veils covering the eyes of the president from seeing how Nigerians are suffering be removed. Emphatically ask the Lord to sweep across the presidency to remove all pretenders and liars deceiving the president at the expense of Nigerians. Pray the Lord to open the eyes and heart of the president to know those who are truly his and those who are not.

    • Pray that our leaders strive to leave behind enduring legacies built on character, sacrifice for the people, genuine leadership, etc and not legacies built on corruption, political thuggery, assassinations, arson, electoral violence, rigging, that have alienated Nigeria from the committee of nations.

    • Pray God to grant our Governors the wisdom to building last infrastructures and develop systems that will benefit the people while in office instead of making laws to aid corruption in the name of pension after their tenure.

    • Pray that through honest, dedicated and transparent leadership, God restores the glory of Nigeria as the pride of the black race.



Day 05 - New Heart, New Spirit

Ezek 36:25-32; Isa. 32:9-15; Gen. 1:1-3; Joel 2:28-32

• Pray that by the working of the Holy Spirit, the LORD gives to us, (i.e. the leaders and the followers) a new heart and a new spirit and take away the heart of stone out of our flesh.

• Pray to the Lord to deliver us from uncleanness in all sectors of the nation, viz; Education, Media, Family, Religion, Arts and Entertainment, Economy, Government.

• Ask the Lord to release upon His Church in this nation a fire of revival--- a revival of righteousness. Also pray the Lord to change our times and seasons, (Dan. 2:22).

• Ask the Holy Spirit to brood over Nigeria to dispel the power of darkness, disorderliness and emptiness. Ask the Lord to fill us with His Spirit (Gen. 1:1-3).

• Pray for God fearing heart, a revival for a new heart and new spirit in the Church.

Day 04 - Political Thuggery, Arson and Assassination of Opponents

Many Nigerian politicians have an attitude of attacking and assassinating their opponents. (Exo. 20:13; Rom. 13:9).

• Ask the Lord to forgive us as a nation the sin of bloodshed.

• Pray that those who are involved in this wickedness should either repent or be judged by God, (Psa. 9:15-20; Psa. 7: 9, 14-16; Job 18:5-19).

• Pray that their wickedness should no longer be hidden but that they be exposed and punished.

• Ask the Lord to withstand all our leaders and other wicked people who shed innocent blood in our land.

• Pray for an end to political violence and god – fatherism

Day 03 - Falling Standards of Education

This is another great disaster our nation is facing. Many graduates and even master's degree holders are semi illiterates (Prov. 24: 3 - 6; 11: 9b; 4:5-7).

• Pray that the government invests in good educational infrastructures, training of teachers and university lecturers, etc.

• Pray against examination malpractices and indiscipline in our education system. Also pray for the Ministers in charge of Education,
Permanent Secretaries and other top officials of this ministry for wisdom, integrity and courage to confront the rot in the education sector.

• Pray for teachers, lecturers, professors, etc. Pray that the Lord should take over their hearts and cause them to see their profession as a ministry to their students and as such minister to them.

• Pray for our young people to have greater interest in education over the get – rich – quick syndrome through advance fee fraud popularly called 419 and other fraudulent activities and distractions that have eaten deep into the heart of our society.

• Pray that God gives the government the wisdom to develop the education system to accommodate and encourage those with flair for sports like football and other sports so that while they are actively involved in sporting activities, education builds them as individuals.

• Pray God to put a stop to distractions in our education system, example ASSU strikes, exodus of lecturers, etc.

• Recent events have shown that ASUU is fast losing focus and may have become a tool in the hands of certain persons to frustrate the government and the entire educational system, and this has become an embarrassment to the nation. Pray for an outright proscription of ASUU with a better system to give our tertiary education a befitting status.

• Pray against corruption, prostitution, occultism and other vices in our education system. May our children no longer have to pay lecturers to pass exams, may our daughters no longer have to sell their bodies before graduating, let occultism be a thing of the past in our schools...primary, secondary, university.

Day 02 - Corruption

High level corruption is the bane of the nation with government functionaries in collaboration with business leaders stealing money meant for the nation's infrastructural development amounting to billions of naira.

• Pray that God gives us genuine men and women with sound leadership skills, leaders with the fear of God, men and women of truth and those who hate covetousness, (Ex.18:21).

• Pray that God gives us leaders who will not pervert justice, nor show partiality, nor take bribes. But those who are just and will rule in the fear of God (Deut.16:19). Ask God to give us leaders who will shepherd us according to the integrity of their good hearts and guide us by the skillfulness of their hearts, (Psa. 78:72).

• Pray that all persons found guilty of corruption are prosecuted and severely punished. Also for reforms in our system that will discourage and prevent corruption, (Jer.17:11; Zech 5:1-4).

• Pray that recruitment and appointments into public offices are determined by merit and not by political affiliation or tribal sentiments.

• Pray God to raise the right persons to review and strengthen all our weak laws and that there should be a sincere enforcement of these laws. Also pray that all unnecessary bureaucratic obstacles be removed, (Eph. 4:8; Matt. 6:24; 1 Sam. 12:3, 4; Prov. 9:10).

• President Goodluck Jonathan has been accused of lacking the will to fight corruption. Pray that as he showed the willingness to confront issues in certain quarters, he should also exercise the same will to confront corruption head on.

 

Day 01: FORECAST ABOUT NIGERIA’S DISINTEGRATION

A conference report titled 'Mapping Sub-Saharan Africa's Future' by a group of experts assembled by the United States National Intelligence Council predicts the possibility of 'outright collapse of Nigeria'

• Thank God for still preserving Nigeria as a nation until now despite many daunting challenges.

• Declare that this counsel shall come to nothing and that it shall not stand. Pray that these pronouncements concerning Nigeria shall not come to pass, (Isa.8:10). Pray that only God's word concerning the nation shall come to pass, (Lam.3:37). Pray for the unity of Nigeria.

• Prophesy that Nigeria becomes one of the safest and greatest nations in the world.

• Prophesy that Nigeria shall yet be a nation where men will queue for our visa to visit this country because of what God is doing in her.

• Pray that these prophecies will not tarry but begin to manifest speedily, (Isa.55:8-12).

• Pray for the unity and peace of Nigeria

Prayer Guide - Intro

Every time we pray for the nation of Nigeria, unless we are divinely directed otherwise, there are two intercessory issues we need to settle with God namely:-

(i) We need to praise, worship and offer Him thanksgiving for who He is, His loving kindness and tender mercies and for great and awesome things He has done and is doing for us as a nation.
